We found this spot on Park4Night in Alsace. We even got to make a little bonfire here, while overlooking the hilly landscape. Up until finding this spotย we have rarely done the whole setup outside, just because we donโt want to be sent away. In Germany it is very much frowned upon if you sleep in a camper, outside of official campsites. And what might start off with an angry glare, might very well turn into the cops showing up, because someone tipped them off.
This has happened several times to us and thats why we often donโt feel completely at ease when we park up somewhere. But ever since we have been in France this has changed. It really seems there is an entirely different perspective and people kind of just mind their own business. Of course we make sure to respect the places we stay: we take our trash with us and make sure not to disturb local wild life while we are there.ย
